Dr. Vial received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, California. While in medical school, he completed a three year fellowship in the Hagey Laboratory, studying aging, scarring and stem cell technology. He published extensively in prominent scientific journals, and obtained a US Patent for profiling stem cells. Dr. Vial received numerous awards for his work, including the prestigious Peter J. Gingrass award from the Plastic Surgery Research Council.

Dr. Vial completed an integrated residency program in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. UPMC is known as a center of innovation and excellence in plastic surgery, and is consistently ranked as one of the top three plastic surgery training programs by US News & World Report. He graduated as Chief Resident, after completing six years of dedicated training in plastic surgery.
Dr. Vial is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties for the practice of plastic surgery of the face and of the body. He also has been elected an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Vial feels privileged to practice in Bend. His wife is a native Oregonian, and they have returned to Oregon to raise their family and enjoy all the incredible things the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Dr. Vial loves to spend his spare time with his wife and children in the great outdoors.
